As you can see from the newly released image above, there is nothing small about the upcoming LEGO Lord of the Rings video game (ok … maybe the characters). TT Games and Warner Brothers Interactive are shedding the light on some of the in-game details for the next installment of the LEGO franchise due out later this year.

The success of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is certainly no secret. In order to ensure that the video game captures the essence accurately, the team at TT games has been working tirelessly to bring fans of the series exactly what they deserve. In fact, this title could be one of their “most cinematic video games they have created to date.”

Below, we are being treated to not only the villainous character profiles but a first in a series of developer diaries that give us an idea as to what we’re going to see in the upcoming title. The experts themselves break down the details and offer a behind the scenes look at what it takes to make a game this come to life.

 Forces of Dark

Saruman was the wisest and greatest of the Wizards, but he fell into the evil ways of the Dark Lord.  He betraysedGandalf and bred a large army of monstrous Uruk-hai warriors to rule-over Middle-earth.

Gollum

Gollum was  corrupted by the One Ring.  After finding the Ring, this once friendly Hobbit became a depraved and withered 500-year-old creature living alone in a deep cave.  He liked to feast on fish, but his obsessionwas the One Ring that he callsed “my precious.”   Driven to madness when he lost the Ring, Gollum willould do anything to get it back.

The Witch King of Angmar

The Witch-king of Angmar is the leader of the Ringwraiths, who serve the Dark Lord Sauron.  He is often seen galloping on a black horse or riding a large flying creature called the Fellbeast.  Whether by air or by land, the Witch-king always brings destruction.

Ringwraiths

They used to be great Kings of Men.  But the magic rings given to them by the Dark Lord Sauron made them into his slaves with one mission:  to hunt down and return the One Ring to the Dark Lord.

Lurtz (Uruk-Hai)

The Uruk-hai were secretly created by Saruman to build his own army of destruction.  They are faster and stronger than Orcs, and do not get weakened by the sunlight.  Lurtz was one of the first to be bred and led the Uruk-hai in battle.

Mordor Orcs

The Mordor Orcs served as the backbone of Saurons army of evil men and beasts.   They multiplied in the dark pits of Mordor and went to battle in order to serve the Dark Lord Sauron.

The Barlog

The Balrog is an ancient demon of fire and shadow, bearing whips aflame.  Gandalf encounters the infamous Balrog known as Durin’s Bane in an unforgettable duel beneath Moria.

Mountain Trolls

Larger and stronger than their cave-dwelling cousins, the Mountain Trolls of Mordor are a huge, iron- gray-skinned race.  These Trolls are better in battle than their smaller kin with their more dangerous intelligence and a darker nature.

Shelob

An ancient monster of gigantic proportions, this spider lives in the caves that lead to Sauron’s land.  Using her web and poisonous sting, Shelob preys on any creature that enters her lair.
