Insomniac’s FUSE Game Looks All Grown Up And That Really Bums Me

Well today is the 12th, the day Insomniac promised to life the veil on their new FUSE game which we all know is the previous Overstrike game announced at E3 two years ago.  Going to the site which previously had the countdown for today now shows us some new screenshots and has a special message from Ted Price explaining that due to some small legal issues they sadly can not show us the big reveal trailer they had planned.  The message makes it clear they are working quickly to resolve the issue and should hopefully have the trailer up soon.  A new synopsis for the game is available as well.

When a volatile alien energy source called Fuse falls into the wrong hands, the CIA calls in an elite contact team to retrieve it: Overstrike 9. Join up to three friends in co-op play as you deploy lethal teamwork and Fuse-powered weapons to take down the rogue paramilitary corporation behind the theft.

In addition to that we have a bevy of new screenshots and as you can see below the game has undergone some serious over hauls from the look of the previous trailer.  Sadly the game looks to have lost a bit of its charm and its looking a bit more realistic now as opposed to the bright cartoony setting it had before.  This saddens me I wont lie, I rather enjoyed the look of the previous trailer.  It had the charm I have come to expect from Insomniac games.  All four characters still seem to remain but have each lost a big part of what made them unique. Previously each wore a different outfit in the trailer where as now all four seem to be wearing the same type of suit.  The bright colors have disappeared and have been replaced with all the too familiar drab gray lack luster color pallet so many games use today. Sadly judging from the screenshots the game is looking more and more like everything else on the self instead of the unique prospect it was before.  I will wait for the trailer to be released to make my final judgement as I hope at the very least the humor is still hopefully intact! As soon as the new trailer is available we will be sure to let you know.

And for Comparison check out the previous look of the game in the original Trailer
