Deep Silver Divvies Out Some Details On Dead Island Riptide
It wasn’t that long ago that Deep Silver announced Dead Island Riptide, the second title in the franchise of the popular first-person style zombie shooter. Coincidentally, buzz started to pick up on the game just prior to this year’s PAX Prime event. While details have been in short supply, I did manage to nonchalantly ask a few quick questions to the folks working the booth (which you can catch a few shots of mixed in here).
Now, I cannot reveal the identities of my sources other than to say they are credible … At least that was my assumption as they were all wearing the same shirt with the “Deep Silver” logo. We already know that the four original characters will be making a return and even that the introduction of a fifth is certain. I asked if we would see anything new from a weapons standpoint and with a slight nodding of the head, I got the signal that confirmed there will be new weapons added as well as new modifications. I also asked whether or not the developers will bring back the popular “Easter Eggs” that they had incorporated in the first title to which the response was “I can neither confirm nor deny, but be on the lookout for them”. I won’t say that’s a yes … but that’s a yes!
Screenshots
The latest screenshots above paint the picture for the gang’s return to the island of Palanai. According to the official website, Dead Island Riptide breaks it down as follows:
The survivors of the zombie-apocalypse on the once beautiful island resort of Banoi escaped in a helicopter to the safety of a military ship. When a furious storm hits and the virus suddenly spreads throughout the crew, the nightmare starts all over again, leaving hope drowning in the rising tides. Devastated by a monsoon, the island of Palanai is crawling with new zombie mutations. A fifth character with an all-new skillset will join the team, providing much needed support. Additional multiplayer communication features and brand new hub defense missions will test the survivor’s teamplay skills.
Dead Island Riptide Interference Trailer
While no specific date has been offered just yet, we do know that Dead Island Riptide will be launching in 2013 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.
