Botcon 2012: “Botcon is all about the fans.”

The Lone Star State is home to many things. In sports, Dallas is the residence to one of the most familiar NFL teams in the nation, the Dallas Cowboys. It is also the home of one the largest Honkey Tonks in the world, Billy Bob’s Texas, which houses its own rodeo, seriously, I’ve seen it! So it’s no coincidence that the biggest state in the union would be host to one of the biggest franchises in the world of gaming, comics, and all things geekery, the Transformers universe. With huge voice actors, such as Peter Cullen, the massive toy line, and the upcoming new video game, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, this convention is nothing but a Decepticon and Autobot love fest and it’s awesome!
Narrated by Matt “Tieg” Tieger, Game Director, High Moon Studios, and other developers, they talk about and go into some detail as to what exactly a Botcon entails. Unbeknownst to me, I never knew there was such a thing in existence. Everyone knows of PAX East, PAX Prime, E3, and the countless amount of Comic Cons all over the country, but I can’t recall anyone saying, “Got my tickets to Botcon!!” Nevertheless, Botcons are here and watching from the video, they are very successful.

If there is one sound in the world that could have the power to bring people back from a comatose state, it would be coming from the unmistakable voice of Peter Cullen, or otherwise known at Optimus Prime. The strong, yet humble vocals of Mr. Cullen were on hand during the Botcon to meet, greet, and take pictures with fans of all ages. The trailer shows off a huge assortment of Transformer toys from Hasbro and other memorabilia. The developers also featured some footage from Fall of Cybertron, which is the sequel to High Moon’s successful Transformers game, War for Cybertron, as well.
Whether you are into cosplaying as Bumble Bee, trading old toys for new, or just want to see legendary voice actors, Botcon is the place to be and as Matt Tieger said it best, “This is Botcon and Botcon is all about the fans.” Check out the trailer below to see for yourself and if you are interested in the Transformers demo, you can read my review here.
