Modern Warfare 3 Brings New Mode And More This Month
It seems that Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer have been hard at work preparing this month’s DLC for Modern Warfare 3. Fans have been waiting patiently to see what those 4 little squares on the content calendar will be filled in with. As it turns out, there are now SEVEN squares of awesome. This not only rounds out the monthly content for COD Elite subscribers, but closes out the remains of what will make up DLC Collection 2.
As you can see from the image above, there is a variety of content included. This month we will see one new multiplayer map (Oasis), two new spec ops missions (Iron Clad and Kill Switch), and a brand new game mode entitled Face Off. This new mode features 1v1 or 2v2 gameplay on more condensed maps, keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. The first two Face Off maps (Erosion and Aground) will be free for everyone and released on May 15th. The second set of Face Off maps (Getaway and Lookout) will be part of the Elite content drop for May. It can also be purchased separately as Collection 2 (which will include previously released multiplayer maps Foundation and Sanctuary) starting May 22nd. Let’s breakdown the goods …
EROSION (Face Off – Free)
Make your way through Mediterranean ruins and ancient aqueducts, using leftover Roman masonry for thousand-year-old cover in this new “Face Off” map.
AGROUND (Face Off – Free)
Head to Scotland’s Orkney Islands for the latest “Face Off” map, where treacherous cliff faces, networks of caves and the rusted and ruined remains of a grounded transport ship provide for constant combat.
OASIS (Multiplayer)
Though once a picturesque escape for vacationers, the sprawling Hotel Oasis is now a Multiplayer paradise, with multiple lanes of combat built atop an ancient fortress.
KILLSWITCH (Spec Ops)
Armed with an Electromagnetic Pulse, your sniper team must neutralize a Russian carrier in this Special Ops Mission where only a bird’s eye view can keep your team in command as you breach the ship from underwater.
IRON CLAD (Spec Ops)
With one player helming a tank and the other escorting it on foot, you’ll clear beaches and take cover in plane wreckage as you escape Hamburg from behind enemy lines in this all-new Special Ops Mission.
GETAWAY (Face Off)
The first “Face Off” map in Modern Warfare® franchise history, what once was a tropical beach getaway boasting exotic aquariums and oversized pools is now a haven for ruthless run-and-gun violence.
LOOKOUT (Face Off)
Carved into a combat-weary mountainside, this new “Face Off” map pits you against your opposition in a forward observation base littered in chokepoints and tight corridors.
As a reminder, the new Face Off mode (including the two free maps) will be available May 15th for everyone with the remaining items falling in on May 22nd. While a picture can be worth a thousand words, the folks over at IGN captured some of the DLC in all its video glory.
