Tribes Ascend Prepped For ‘Raid & Pillage’ Content Update

Hi-Rez Studios has announced the release of their next content update for Tribes: Ascend, scheduled to come out later this week. Entitled “Raid & Pillage”, this update is all about the Raider Class, which specializes in base destruction. In this newly released video, Todd Harris (Co-Founder and CEO), Ben Knapp (Sr. Character Artist), and Adam Moore (Sr. Character Artist) from Hi-Rez Studios, break down the details on what will be included.

First on the content list, players can expect to see two brand new cosmic skins, Griever and Mercenary. Ok, Ok, Ok … It’s nice to show up to the fight looking pretty, but in this case, the clothes don’t make the man, his weapons do! To help with that, 3 new destruction devices have been added to the lineup. The first of which is the Plasma Rifle, firing large masses of plasma that explode on contact. While they don’t deal out as much damage or have the biggest blast radius, the high rate of fire and large projectile size make this an effective weapon in combat. Next up is the NJ5-B Sub Machine Gun, a smaller variant of the NJ4. This version has a smaller clip size and lower rate of fire, but due to the larger caliber projectile, it deals more damage per hit. Last but not least is the Cluster Grenade. Exploding into 5 smaller sized bombs, this little fellow not only deals out damage but is perfectly designed to help with knockback. Toss a few of these around and you’ll be on your way to destroying enemy bases in no time.

Let’s check out these goodies in action, shall we?
